His Looks and the Questionable Stuff He Did in the Past
In the world of K-pop, names such as JYP are inextricably linked to talent and innovation. However, not all fans agree with this view. For some, JYP's actions in the past have left a haunting legacy that many find difficult to reconcile with the music industry. Let us dive back into the past, particularly the survival show “SIXTEEN” from 2015, where the concept of TWICE was born. Many of the SIXTEEN contestants had to perform mesmerizing choreographies with sexy moves, a fact that led to a very persistent and troubling reaction from JYP himself.
Throughout the show, JYP's actions were often scrutinized. While some might argue he was simply mesmerized by their dance skills, the reaction he had was noted for being overly intense. There are several incidents that raise questions and concerns. In the context of the show, one specific instance of this intense interest was during a performance where the choreography was particularly seductive. The reaction JYP displayed can only be described as
Querying the Perception: JYP's Physical Appearance and Fan Edits
It is important to examine how JYP's physical appearance, known for its peculiar and unsettling elements, contributes to the perception of him as creepy. Even when he smiles, his looks generate a discomfort among his audience. This can be attributed to his facial features, which often appear bizarre and unsettling. It is only fair to acknowledge his appearance might contribute to the perception of him as creepy, as evidenced by
One of the more infamous instances involves fan edits, where his image was unflatteringly morphed onto the bodies of female K-pop idols. These edits, although purely fan-created, significantly impacted how his image was perceived online. If you search “JYP” on sites like Pinterest, a vast majority of the results are these fan edits that make him look even more creepy. This alone might explain why some fans found him creepy before they ever knew him.
Questionable Past Behavior
However, JYP's actions in the past also contribute to his creepy image. For instance, his underwear photoshoots were criticized for their inappropriateness. Wearing transparent plastic pants that revealed his underwear was considered extremely bizarre and inappropriate. Furthermore, his performances often featured him staring at female performers' butts, which was not only contested but also made uncomfortable viewers. A clear example was his collaboration with Sunmi for the song “When We Disco,” where he was noted for his weird expression and staring at Sunmi's posterior. This behavior was not limited to his live performances, as some directed fan photos showed him seemingly touching Sunmi's backside.
Concert Posters: A Visual Reinforcement of Skepticism
Moreover, his concert posters often feature sexualized images of women, adding to the perception of him being inappropriate. These posters frequently highlight women in provocative outfits next to or atop him, a choice that is more often than not interpreted as an attempt to objectify the female performers. This reinforces the idea that his actions and choices in the past had a significant impact on his reputation.
Aestheticizing the Creep Factor
Considering all this, it is understandable why some fans find JYP creepy. His lack of handsome appearance does not help. If he were better looking, he would not have been so easily categorized as creepy based on surface-level judgements. His appearance, combined with these questionable actions, makes him an easy target of perception.
However, it is important to remember that categorizing him through his physical appearance alone is unfair and ridiculous. His actions and past behavior play a significant role in this perception, and it is crucial to consider these factors when evaluating his influence in the K-pop industry.
