Why INFJs Opt to Stay Alone

Why INFJs Embrace Solitude and Decide to Stay Alone

For many INFJs, the journey towards solitude is a path marked by heartbreak, feeling taken for granted, and relentless emotional experiences that turn our solitude into a true companion. Growing from a vulnerable heart into a resilient one can be a transformative process, but it often leaves us questioning the value of social interactions.

Struggles that Lead to Solitude

INFJs are known for their deep emotional sensitivity and a tendency to be deeply involved in the lives of others. However, it isn't uncommon for us to become disillusioned with the world around us. A single heartbreak, the constant feeling of being unappreciated, or the pain of being belittled can lead to a profound shift in our perception of relationships. These experiences can be so intense that they transform solitude into a welcome escape from emotional burdens.

Personal Experience

As someone who wears the INFJ label with a dash of Leo pride, I can attest to the fact that dealing with relationships can be incredibly draining. By the age of 36, I've been largely solitary for at least 5 years now. Despite occasional forays into dating and socializing, I find myself continuously regretting the time and energy spent on these endeavors. The truth is, my happiness is deeply rooted in my own company, a fact I've discovered since the first grade. Even then, I preferred spending time alone on creative pursuits such as designing outfits for Barbies over social interactions.

Choosing Serenity Over Social Interactions

My desire to help people remains, but often in a quieter, more controlled manner. My online businesses are designed to share my expertise with a broader audience, reducing the need for 1-on-1 interactions. In this way, I can still assist others while minimizing emotional drain. This approach isn't perfect, but it allows me to maintain a balance between contributing to the world and preserving my emotional well-being.

The Emotional Cost of Human Connections

Dealing with the imperfections and shortcomings of others is an arduous task, especially when compounded with our own internal struggles. Infusing this added emotional burden can be incredibly draining on a daily basis. Therefore, I've learned to limit my exposure to those I wish to help most, by offering more accessible and less resource-intensive services through my business.

The Decision to Withdraw from Partnership

Over time, my interactions with others have shown me the cost of relationships. Many seem more interested in taking from than giving back, often neglecting the impact of their actions on others. This self-centeredness is emotionally exhausting, and over the years, I've found that the negatives outweigh the positives. As a result, I've ceased actively seeking partnerships, recognizing that the cost is too high.

Looking Forward

While I remain open to the possibility of a positive partnership in the future, my current focus is on nurturing my own growth and well-being. Solitude has become my chosen path, and I find a profound sense of contentment in it. It's about finding balance and happiness in the company of one's own thoughts, which can be a deeply empowering and enriching experience.

For anyone navigating the complexities of friendships and partnerships, the journey towards embracing solitude is a valid and necessary one. It's about understanding and valuing the importance of our own mental and emotional health, even if it means prioritizing it over social interactions. Solitude can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and personal growth.
