Why I Choose Not to Be Popular on Quora

Why I Choose Not to Be Popular on Quora

Some people might wonder why I don't strive for popularity on Quora. Let me explain my reasoning in a way that resonates with both my personal beliefs and the broader principles of what makes content valuable on the internet.

Worldly Versus Biblical Views

Quora is a platform where people come to share their views and thoughts. However, popularity on Quora doesn't always reflect sincerity or truth. The most upvoted answers often praise and celebrate sin, whereas my answers are grounded in a Biblical perspective. This fundamental difference leads me to question why many people on Quora seek and achieve widespread popularity, at the expense of truth and truthfulness. These popular writers are celebrated because they align with the world's values. In contrast, my answers often face hostility and even blocking from hundreds of individuals, all because I stand for Biblical truth.

One of my favorite verses is John 15:19, which states, “If you were of the world the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world but I chose you out of the world therefore the world hates you.” This verse explains why I don’t receive upvotes and why I face hostility. It’s not about seeking popularity; it’s about maintaining authenticity and truth.

The Power of Truth

Lies can be comforting, but the truth is often difficult to accept. John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” This truth hurts, but it liberates us from the chains of deception. I understand that many might be offended by the truth, and I understand that I won't receive upvotes for it. However, my hope is for my readers to repent and turn to Jesus Christ. At the end of the day, my mission is to bring people closer to the truth, not seek popularity.

Real-Life Relevance of Quora Popularity

Popularity on Quora, while impressive, holds no real-world value. It won't impact job interviews, college admissions, or getting loans to start a business. You still have to pay your bills and taxes, just like everyone else. The virtual world of Quora is just that—a virtual reality. It can't change the reality of life. Popularity on Quora is an achievement, but it does not define your worth or your future in the real world.

Making a Choice to Write Truly

My 1,500 followers and growing are a testament to those who appreciate my views. I am genuinely touched by the mentions, beautiful comments, and messages that brighten my day. These interactions are what keep me coming back to Quora. I share my beliefs not because of the potential for popularity but because these beliefs are a part of who I am.

It's easy to get caught up in the virtual life and take things too seriously. Fame, in Quora terms, seems to be measured by followers and likes. However, as John 15:19 suggests, being true to oneself and not conforming to the world's values is what sets the true path. My goal is to continue writing, sharing my thoughts and beliefs, and impacting lives for the better. I am indifferent to those who consider themselves celebrities with only a few thousand followers. Growing up and understanding the true value of truth and authenticity is the key to a fulfilling life, both on and off Quora.
