Vocal Rankings: Wendy, Wheein, Solar, Yuju, and Others

When it comes to ranking the vocal talents of the top K-pop groups, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, and Gfriend stand out. This article delves into the vocal rankings, aiming to provide an accurate and informed comparison based on personal preference and vocal technique. Let's explore each member's vocal abilities and showcase why they rank where they do.

1. Wendy of Mamamoo

Wendy earns the top spot as the best 3rd-generation singer. Her powerful and versatile vocals are unmatched. She consistently demonstrates a wide range and impressive control, making her stand out in the K-pop scene.

2. Wheein of Red Velvet

Wheein is the closest contender to Wendy, with a clear victory in terms of flow and technique. Those who argue that Solar is better fail to recognize her impeccable note-to-note coordination. Her vocals are a harmonious blend of technique and natural talent, making her a favorite among vocalists and fans alike.

3. Solar of Red Velvet

Solar is a super-talented vocalist, and the top three positions were exceptionally close. Solar's versatility and range put her in a high-ranking position. Her powerful voice and command over high notes make her one of the strongest vocalists in the group.

4. Yuju of Gfriend

Yuju has an incredibly unique voice that often makes listeners wonder how JYP managed to pass her up. Her powerful, unforgettable vocals have the potential to become iconic. Despite initial hesitations, her distinctive sound and emotive delivery have secured her a strong position in the rankings.

5. Hwasa of Gfriend

Hwasa is very talented, especially after releasing her album Maria. Her progression as a vocalist has been remarkable, and her ability to showcase diverse vocal nuances is impressive. Hwasa's consistency, both in studio recordings and live performances, is a top priority for vocalists as she demonstrates exceptional ability.

6. Seulgi of Red Velvet

Seulgi is poised to take on a main vocal role, should Red Velvet decide to change their lineup. Her solid vocal capabilities and dynamic range make her a valuable addition to the group. However, Personal Recordings (SM Entertainment) continues to resist change, maintaining the status quo.

7. Eunha of Red Velvet

Eunha is another stron lead vocalist in K-pop. I have her above Joy for her versatility, which is her most significant strength. Her ability to adapt to various genres and her consistent vocal performance make her an asset to the group and stand out among the competition.

8. Joy of Red Velvet

Joy is one of the most underrated vocalists in K-pop. Despite being overshadowed by other vocalists, her impressive vocal range and consistency, especially evident in live performances, make up for it. Her recent standout performance in Umph Umph showcases her incredible high note abilities, putting her above Yerin.

9. Yerin of Gfriend

Yerin is a near-bottom contender in this ranking. Her beautiful, breathy voice is part of what fans love about her, but there is still a noticeable improvement needed. Her vocal performance style is particularly appreciated, even if she hasn't reached Yujin's level yet.

10. Moonbyul of Mamamoo

Moonbyul has a beautiful deep voice and a respectable vocal range. However, she hasn't showcased much of her vocal talents publicly, making it difficult to place her precisely in the rankings. Her potential is there, but she needs to perform more to fully reveal her capabilities.

11. Sinb of Gfriend

Sinb has significant vocal potential, but her performances are inconsistent. Sometimes, she sounds nasal and breathy, while other times, she matches Yerin's level. Her vocal development is still a work in progress.

12. Irene of Red Velvet

Irene is actually a good singer. There seems to be a misunderstanding about her vocal abilities, as many people criticize her. However, her voice is solid and reliable, showing promising signs of improvement and potential.

13. Umji of Gfriend

Umji has a sweet voice, but her consistent vocal performance leaves her near the bottom. While her voice is pleasant, her potential is underutilized, and she has a long way to go to reach her full vocal potential.

14. Sowon of Gfriend

Sowon has poor breath control, similar to Yeri, but is slightly better. Her overall vocal performance is consistent, but she needs improvement in terms of breath control and vocal techniques.

15. Yeri of Gfriend

Yeri is my ultimate bias among these members. While she has a beautiful, pretty voice, there is still a long way to go in terms of mastering her breath control and vocal techniques. Her natural talent is undeniable, but consistent practice and refinement are necessary for her to reach her full potential.

Here is a quick run through of my personal preference of their voices in order of preference:

Joy Wheein Yuju Seulgi Irene Eunha Yeri Hwasa Solar Yerin Wendy Moonbyul Umji Sinb Sowon
