My career in Houston marked the beginning of a series of coincidences that I still marvel at today. I moved to Houston for a new job, starting in a motel during the first three weeks while my wife searched for an apartment. Part of my initial responsibilities at this new job was to hire a bookkeeper. On the third day of my employment, I stumbled upon a potential candidate. Little did I know that upon moving in, I would discover that this bookkeeper lived right next door! It was a small world, for after a month, my bookkeeper quit and handpicked the very next person—a couple who moved in right after, including her husband, who turned out to be odd and lived in an old, beat-up car. The story was more surprising when I learned his daughter worked for a home building company named Wolf and Jarvis, and he was the detective working undercover for the Texas Department of Safety. It was a series of life-altering coincidences that left me in awe.

Second Coincidence: A Walk in Baku

Years later, I experienced another memorable coincidence while wandering the winding alleys of the Old City in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This time, I was strolling through a familiar part of town when I recalled a previous encounter with a Azerbaijani man. My mind wandered, reminiscing about a cousin of his who visited the city. Instantly, the man I had been thinking about appeared. This, too, is a story I can recount from my lifetime of coincidences, especially in Azerbaijan. So much so, that I was asked to write a book about the enigmatic patterns that seem to shape my life.

Baha’u’llah’s Birthday Coincidence

A striking coincidence exists between when I was born and the celebration of the birthday of Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i faith. My birthday and Baha’u’llah’s birthday are celebrated on the same date. This shared coincidence is not unique, as Baha’u’llah’s birthday is celebrated around the world on different dates, highlighting the cultural and spiritual connections that intertwine our lives in surprising ways.
