The Stages of My Journey to Financial Freedom: From Dependent to Entrepreneur

Hey, I decided to share my personal journey, from a dependent to an entrepreneur, to illustrate the stages of financial growth and pursuit that a middle-class individual might go through. Everyone's path is unique, but these stages can serve as a roadmap for anyone looking to achieve financial freedom.

Dependent (Age 22-24)

Dependence is often the starting point where individuals rely on their parents for shelter and sustenance. For me, this stage lasted until I was about 22. During this time, I focused on education and personal growth, knowing that it would ultimately lead to financial independence.

Earn, Learn, and Grow (Age 25-32)

The Earn, Learn, and Grow phase is a crucial period where one begins to earn a decent salary, acquire essential skills, and slowly pay off accumulated debts. Over the next decade, I aimed to build a stable income, learn valuable skills, and tackle my financial obligations.

Earning and Learning

I graduated with a degree in Engineering and started working as a Site Engineer for a Power and Energy Company. This role provided me with invaluable hands-on experience and a solid salary, but also pushed me to continuously learn and improve my skills. I started my own online business in August 2016, which would become a stepping stone to further financial independence.

Breaking Free: The Domaining and Forex Adventures

Domaining took me to a new level. I initially purchased domains with the intention of earning passive income, but my initial attempts were quite lacksadaisical. However, I soon realized the potential and began to focus more seriously. By the end of 2018, my Forex trading also became a source of income, but the market volatility and the events surrounding Jamal Khashoggi’s assassination dramatically impacted my investment. It was a hard lesson, but one that made me more emotionally resilient and cautious.

Tiny Investor and Free Soul

In the Tiny Investor phase, I began to invest systematically and aimed for financial independence. After clearing debts, I focused on passive income and minimal expenses, culminating in the Free Soul phase at age 32. This period involved living off passive income and achieving zero debt, a significant milestone in my financial journey.

Entrepreneur and Traveller: The Next Frontier

My next goal is to be an Entrepreneur, starting my own venture, and then travel the world, experiencing diverse cultures. Both of these pursuits require significant financial planning and a different set of skills than the ones I’ve already learned. It’s a journey of continuous learning and adaptation.

Strategizing for the Future

To achieve these goals, I am constantly researching, learning, and adapting. I am currently an Engineer and run an engineering training business. Additionally, I have started dabbling in Facebook Ads Management and YouTube, where I can share my knowledge and experiences, helping others on their journey towards financial freedom.

My ultimate goal is to continue growing and earning more. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and for the lessons that have taught me perseverance and resilience.
