The Law of Attraction: How Persistent Dreams Manifest into Friendship
Have you ever wished for a friendship that never came to be? Throughout my life, I've faced numerous instances where the prospect of meaningful connections seemed tantalizingly just out of reach. But, much like the concept of the law of attraction, sometimes those dreams do manifest into reality.
A Bush Walking Group Encounter
The guy I met had a slim and nice demeanor, small features, and dark eyes. Our conversations were filled with laughter, as we discussed various TV sitcoms with shrewd and comical observations. He was passionate about photography and had even taught basic photography at a community college. We shared a similar interest in media, and soon found ourselves returning to study film and media at different universities. He was also an expert in forests and conservation, an area that piqued my interest.
I met him through a bush walking group. We shared a love for nature, discussing the different types of woodland trees and wildflowers. He explained the intricate details of forests and the importance of conservation. However, we both had confronted challenges with our respective work colleagues, and each found a solace in Christian groups, likely contributing to our ease with one another.
Friendship Rejected
During my college days, I formed a friendship with a classmate. The dynamics grew when I met his friends, many of whom were acquaintances from high school. We spent time together in between classes, enjoyed social events, and eventually dated one individual from the group. The group established their own fraternity and sorority, which initially made me feel like a core member of their social circle.
However, the fraternity and sorority were membership-only, and I was rejected from joining. This was largely due to my past behavior, as I frequently used profanity, which offended the women in the 'sister sorority.' Despite the rejection, I remained part of the group, but the distinction made it clear that I was more of an acquaintance than a close friend. Eventually, we all drifted apart.
Chasing Dreams: Personal Experiences and Relationships
My experiences have shown me that the law of attraction can indeed work in regards to friendships and relationships. I witnessed the growth of a beautiful young lady with a sweet voice and dimples. She was dating a friend I used to play guitar with, and even though she was not interested in me, I still thought about her positively.
One day, through a Facebook conversation, she gave me her number and expressed interest in going on a date when she returned from school in South Africa. This led to our first date, which was at a concert where I performed. Our connection grew from there, and I learned that sometimes, just by thinking positively about something, it eventually happens.
Another dream I pursued was to become friends with White individuals. Given my background as a black person, there are often cultural and social complexities involved. However, I still desired to have White friends to better understand their culture and friendship dynamics. This year, I had the opportunity to work in a church founded by a White pastor, which provided a platform for me to interact with international volunteers from Canada, the US, and the UK. These volunteers often worked for two to three years as missionaries, which offered me the chance to form a wide circle of White friends.
Among these friends, I had Don from the UK and his wife Rebecca, two ladies from Canada and the US, and a couple of individuals who held romantic interests in me. One, a singer, I would consider marrying, while the other was a potential romantic partner. Reflecting on these stories, it's clear that the law of attraction can indeed manifest friendships and relationships when we persistently pursue our dreams.
