The Joy of School: Unconventional Teachers and Memorable Experiences

School isn't just about books and structured learning. There are moments and experiences that make the experience overall more enjoyable and memorable. This essay explores some of the unique and fun aspects of school, such as unconventional teachers and special moments that stand out.

The Magic of Substitute Teachers

One of my favorite things from school in particular was the odd experience of having substitute teachers. There's something inherently amusing about having a teacher step in for the primary teacher, bringing in a different dynamic to the classroom. Often, these reliever/substitute teachers give us more freedom. If the main teachers don't always allow us much flexibility, having an openly laid-back substitute can be a breath of fresh air. I especially loved it when we got someone who wasn't interested in teaching at all—someone who just let us have free time for the entire session.

One time in my fourth year of high school, we had a reliever who was a young woman in her early to mid-twenties. She practically did nothing in class. Instead of engaging with us, she sat quietly at her desk, keeping her head down and rarely speaking. She didn’t even bother with the class roll, and someone else had to do that for her. She was a voluntary substitute, definitely not part of the school staff and clearly unknown to our school. But to our benefit, the entire session was filled with our own fun and games!

Other Unforgettable School Moments

There are several other aspects of school that I find incredibly enjoyable. For instance, I love it when some of our classes are canceled, and we get to go home early. It gives us the chance to relax and recharge. When spring comes and we have P.E., it's especially fun because we can walk around, play, and collect flowers outside. I remember pulling a beautiful flower with its roots, much to the surprise of my classmates. It was the perfect break from the regular routine.

Field trips and excursions to museums or other places are always a hit. It’s like a breath of fresh air in our daily lives filled with restrictions and complex problems. Cultural exchange events, where students from other countries share their cultures, add so much excitement and new perspectives to our lives.

Supportive School Environment

Reflecting on my time in school, the Nun Sisters played a significant role in teaching us valuable life lessons. Our Mothers, as we called them, imparted moral values and taught us Literature, Maths, and Science. Their presence and guidance were crucial in our academic and personal development. Their kindness and wisdom were invaluable.

Moreover, the events hosted at school were always a great treat. From sports competitions to music festivals and food festivals, we had moments of joy with no more restrictive rules and no more complex formulas. These events brought us together, strengthened our bonds with friends, and created unforgettable memories. Sometimes, these events even included cultural exchanges, where students from other countries would share their rich cultural heritage, enriching our own experiences.

In conclusion, school isn't just about academic achievement and structured learning. There are moments and experiences that make the entire experience more enjoyable and memorable. Whether it's the fun of substitute teachers, the excitement of outdoor activities during spring, the thrill of field trips, or the support of dedicated teachers, these aspects of school contribute to making our time there meaningful and joyful.
