The Journey of Growing to Love Each Member of BTS

The Journey of Growing to Love Each Member of BTS

In the vast universe of K-pop, no fan's path to love a group is the same. For many, certain members can take longer to warm up to than others. This article explores personal journeys in discovering and appreciating each member of BTS.

Hating Yoongi and Finding a Cuddle

Initially, my introduction to BTS did not favor Yoongi at all. He seemed overly motivated to project an intimidating and proud demeanor, which I found off-putting. Yoongi appeared to despise those who didn't appreciate BTS and struck me as bossy and unfriendly. However, delving deeper, I recognized that he was transparently cute and a genuine kitten. This understanding led to an eventual fondness for him, as I realized the challenges he faced.

Disliking Hobi and Overacting That’s Exhausting

Similarly, initial encounters with Hobi were less than favorable. His over-the-top expressions of happiness were worn out. The effort of always acting cheerful in front of others was a burden I could relate to. While I wanted to blunt his performance at times, understanding his intentions and support brought us closer, albeit slowly.

V - The Controversial Love

V also had a slow entry into my heart. Proliferous rumors of his relationship with Jennie likely played a part in my eventual fondness for him. His reserved and sometimes picky nature seemed to add a layer of mystery that initially made him hard to read. Once I transitioned into understanding his perspective, a soft spot for V blossomed.

The Struggle With Jimin

For some reason, it took considerable time to trust Jimin. His energy was not always pleasant, and his actions seemed artificial. Turning 18 in 2020 introduced BTS to me, making Jimin’s character and personality more challenging to understand and appreciate.

My Ultimate Bias: Kim

Initially, EXO drew me to K-pop, but my love for BTS blossomed gradually. V, the eldest member in the current lineup, has become my ultimate favor. Learning the names quickly, it was the personalities and the bonds within the band that required more time to grasp. Yet, over the years, I have developed a deep love for V, equal to his fellow members.

Specifically, the Longest to Warm Up To: V

The development of affection for V was a slow and deliberate process. Becoming an ARMY in 2018, I quickly knew the names but took time to understand the dynamics within the group. From the start, something about V bothered me, though the reasons and time frames are unclear. However, with time, I am deeply in love with V, appreciating his warmth, talent, and genuine care for the team.

Growing to Love Hobi

It was Hobi I found the most challenging to embrace. There was a stark clash between his energy and my reserved nature. He appears quite bright and loud, making me cringe initially, but not necessarily in a bad way. I am naturally a quieter person, and these loud individuals often exhaust me, as my sister is among them. Over time, I realized Hobi's importance, appreciation, and extraordinary talents. Despite occasional loudness, he brings joy and energy, making him cherished.

As a deep-felt love for each member of BTS grew, not just for the music but also for their humanity, these introspections guided my emotional journey. Growing to love each member is an ongoing process filled with personal stories and transformations. This experience beautifully resonates with the BTS fandom's journey.
