The Best Places to Hide and the Most Creative Hiding Spots Ever
A Summer Adventure in Michigan
It was the summer I was 8, and I was visiting my family in Michigan. There were a lot of cousins near my age, and we all shared the same interests. After getting tired of playing Minecraft (a phase we all had), I suggested that we play hide and seek. Everyone agreed, and since I hated counting, I was thrilled to hide.
Choosing the Perfect Spot
My cousin’s house, with its spacious kitchen and many possibilities, was the perfect environment for adventurous hiding. It was like a small maze, with a lot of corners and cabinets. Near the island was a little fridge built into the kitchen. I thought it might be a good hiding spot since it seemed small and out of the way. Little did I know, it would lead to a rather amusing predicament.
The Game of Hide and Seek
Someone started counting down, and we all scurried to find our hiding spots. One of my cousins hid in the closet behind the couch covered in curtains, while I chose a more desperate route. In the tiny mini-fridge. At the time, it didn’t seem like a bad idea, especially since the fridge was recently moved in and empty. Everyone else was found easily, so I thought my plan would work perfectly. I giggled as they failed to find me.
The Unexpected Encounter
Everyone sat down on the couch, playing Minecraft again, and I realized that they had given up. However, it was starting to get chilly, especially with summer heat. I tried to push open the door but discovered it wouldn’t budge. Stuck in the fridge, I began pounding on the door until our 13-year-old cousin came to open it.
The Lesson Learned
Although it was the best hiding spot I’ve ever found (aside from the whole getting stuck part), the moral of the story is clear: even if a place looks like a good hiding spot, if you're playing with kids under 13 with a short attention span, just don’t hide there.
