A Typeface that Plays Tricks: Trickster
What all Halloween typefaces have in common is that they evoke associations of scariness, creepiness, ghoulishness, or something phantom. PhantomFoundry has an amazing typeface called Trickster by Jean-Baptiste Morizot. It's free, Halloween-ish, and features some letterforms you won't have seen before!
Take a closer look at some letters:

Trickster is a “blend of Merovingian writing, blackletter influences, and contemporary shapes” as Jean-Baptiste puts it. A lot of the letterforms are truly refreshing. It's even in small details, such as how the bottom curve of ‘s’ thickens as it loops back on its spine or the line extending from the dot in ‘i’.
But what truly impresses me more than anything in this typeface is that awesome alternate double ‘s’ character! And it also comes with a dripping effect. Below are more variations of the ‘f’ character:

Perfect Halloween Typeface: Boo!
While Trickster is fantastic, it might not be suitable for everyone. Another typeface that fits the Halloween theme perfectly is Macabre by Dave Coleman. This font is extremely playful and aligns perfectly with the Halloween spirit:
