Reflections on Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: A Fan's Point of View
I have been a longtime fan of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). While I still watch the old episodes, rarely do I watch the newer ones due to certain aspects that I find lacking. Let's explore the reasons why I feel this way.
The Absence of Daya Bhabhi
One of the most significant reasons I find the newer episodes less engaging is the absence of Daya Bhabhi. The show seemed a bit incomplete without her. Although the director hasn't introduced a new Daya Bhabhi into the serial, there are numerous talented Gujarati actresses who could take on the role. Additionally, Daya's mother could also be reintroduced to enhance the storyline.
The Inconsistent Tappu and Changing Sodhi
Another factor that bothers me is the inconsistency in portraying Tappu. He has changed his personality several times, which doesn't align with the character of Jethalal’s son. Moreover, Sodhi's sudden changes also impact the show negatively.
The Acting of Sundar and Popat Lal's Marital Status
Sundar's acting and his character irritate me. He always seems to take money from his Jija (father) and hasn't married yet. Furthermore, the absence of Popat Lal's marital progression is also disappointing. The introduction of new characters does little to engage me, and the overall interest in the series has declined over the years.
Slow Actors' and Actresses' Departure
The slow but steady departure of actors and actresses is another reason why I find the newer episodes less interesting. Even 'Aye Popat' lines, once a highlight, are missed. The storyline is repetitive and monotonous, making it difficult to stay engaged. For example, the storyline 'Popatlal Ki Shaadi Bhootni Waali' is particularly boring, and the absence of old characters like Daya makes the show less exciting.
Bad Casting in New Episodes
The casting choices in the show have significantly deteriorated. For example, the casting for the new Sonu doesn't look like the original Sonu. Similarly, Tappu's lack of acting skills and the inability of new characters to fit into the show further exacerbate the issue. These changes have made the show less entertaining and more irritating, starting from 2017.
The Dissatisfaction with Babita Ji's Acting
As a foreign fan, I have noticed that the acting of Babita Ji has deeply disappointed me. My sympathy for Daya, a main character, has been hurt by her performance. Jetha, who I believed had genuine feelings for Daya, seems more interested in other women's husbands. The pain and disappointment in the show have caused me to leave. It's worth noting that off-screen, Khun Disha and Khun Dilip are very close and are beloved by the fans, despite their married lives.
Conclusion
Although I have always been a fan of TMKOC, certain changes and disappointments have made the newer episodes less appealing to me. The show has lost its charm and has become more boring and irritating over the years. However, I still hold a special place in my heart for the show and its past glory.
