Our Condition on 'The Day of Judgment' as Per the Qur`an and Hadith
The Qur`an and Hadith paint a vivid picture of what our condition will be like on 'The Day of Judgment'. This is a day filled with profound significance, characterized by both immense reward and punishment, as the faithful and the sinners will each face their final reckoning.
Significance of the Day of Judgment
The Qur`an describes the Day of Judgment as a day of immense repercussions; a day that is both great and terrifying, longer than anything we can comprehend.
>ldquo;O mankind! Reverence your Lord. Truly the quaking of the Hour is a tremendous thing- On the day you see it every nursing woman will forget what she nurses and every pregnant woman will deliver her burden, and you will see mankind drunk though drunk they will not be. Rather the Punishment of God is severe.rdquo; Qur`an 22:1-2
Resurrection and Physical Changes
Every human being will be resurrected, stripped of their physical clothing, returning to the state of naked youth. This day will bring about significant changes, far worse than any defective animals, as the works of sinners will be attached to their necks. This is illustrated in the Qur`an:
ldquo; The Day when We will unfold all their deeds, like a book. And shall say to those who were heedlesscolon; Was there no messenger to give you good news and to warn you?rdquo; Qur`an 17:13
Muslims' Condition on that Day
Muslims are ensured a favorable condition in the afterlife, their bodies adorned with a perfect light derived from their intention and repentance. Unlike the heedless and unbelievers, the faithful will be rewarded with this incorruptible light. For Muslims, the greatness lies not in material possessions but in the contribution made to the betterment of society. Anticipating forgiveness and setting intentions rightly is a key aspect of this perfected light.
The Condition of Non-Muslims
Non-Muslims, on the day of judgment, will face a set of weird and unnatural appearances as a result of their actions:
Defective Stature: Their teeth will be distorted, and their skin will be thick, as described in the Hadith of Abu Huraira. Defective Tongues: People who were two-faced in this world will have two tongues of fire as mentioned by the Prophet in a Hadith. Defective Body: If a person was unfair to his wives, he will end up in the afterlife with a side hanging down, as narrated by Abu Huraira. Breast and Buttocks: Those who take other people's land unjustly will have their necks encircled with it and their buttocks flagges fixed, as narrated in Hadiths. Defective Face: Begging for more property will lead to lacerations on their face and stones from Jahannam. Breath: Wailing over a dead person will result in being resurrected wearing a shirt of pitch tar and then a shirt of flaming fire. Conclusion
On this day, the conditions of humanity will be visibly different based on their actions, with Muslims expected to have a superior and blessed state. The Day of Judgment is not only a day of reckoning but also a day that reflects the true nature of humanity. Muslims are encouraged to constantly reflect on their deeds and strive towards righteousness in order to achieve a favorable condition in the afterlife.
