My Favorite K-pop Groups and Idols: A Personal Journey

My Favorite K-pop Groups and Idols: A Personal Journey

I am a die-hard K-pop enthusiast with a passion for discovering and supporting the best boy and girl groups in the industry. Over the years, I have had the privilege of stanning some incredible K-pop groups, and today, I would like to share my love for some of these amazing artists and idols. Whether it's their incredible vocal skills, unique choreographies, or captivating performances, these K-pop groups have captured my heart and ear.

Boy Groups

Seventeen (Svt)

Seventeen, often abbreviated as Svt, is a group that has completely taken over my heart this year. Jumping on the bandwagon after the release of their Super group, I admit I was skeptical about stancing a group with such a large number of members. However, Svt proved me wrong with their outstanding vocal performances, brilliant dance skills, and rapping abilities. Their variety show, Going Seventeen, is one of the funniest and most entertaining shows I have ever watched. Each member brings their unique talents and personalities to the table, making them a well-rounded group. Moreover, their Japanese songs are as catchy as their Korean ones, and their fanbase is genuinely supportive and positive.

Stray Kids (Skz)

My journey with Stray Kids, referred to as Skz, began with their hit song Thunderous in 2022. Their emotional and energetic performances moved me in a way I hadn't experienced with K-pop before. Once I started watching their survival show, I couldn't get enough of Skz. Their passion for their craft is evident in every performance. The compilation of their dynamics on and off stage, as well as their variety show, Skz-CODE, added another layer to their appeal. Skz not only introduced me to their fellow idol-groups but also to the world of 4th generation K-pop. I am eternally grateful for their impact on my K-pop journey.

NCT (Neo Culture Technology)

NCT, one of the most established groups in K-pop, has always been in my radar, but I truly became invested after the release of Blurred Lines in 2019. Stancing such a large group was daunting, but eventually, I decided to take the plunge. NCT's fun and relatable fanbase, NCTZENS, along with their humor, made it easier to catch up. The creativity and diversity within the group, from their songs to their concepts and choreographies, have kept me engaged. My favorite sub-unit is NCT Dream, whose songs provide a refreshing change from the larger group.

Treasure

Treasure, a younger group, also captured my attention during their debut. My favorite song, Hello, and the Mv-T5 MV, led me to stan them. The group's choreographies and melodies are top-notch, and learning about their members and background has been a delightful experience. Despite some internal conflicts, I still find their humor endearing. I am particularly biased towards Haruto, who adds a unique flavor to the group's performances.

TXT and Ateez

TXtc and Ateez caught my attention more for their strong vocal and dance performances rather than their internal dynamics. Both groups started staning in 2023, and I was immediately drawn to their songs and choreographies. While I am not as deeply invested in their current activities, both NCT and Halazia/ Anti-Romantic introduced me to their respective groups. I enjoy watching their variety shows when in the mood but my primary motivation for stanxing them is their stunning productions and performances.

Other groups that I stan frequently include Xikers, Riize, Zerobaseone, Evnne, Exo, Xdinary Heroes, and Enhypen. These groups, alongside solo artists like Jessi, Chguns, Yedam, Soojin, and Chaeyon, continue to lighten my day with their music and performances. Additionally, groups like New Jeans and Le Sserafim also hold a special place in my heart, especially because I miss their recent stages.

Girl Groups

While I am more inclined towards boy groups, K-pop girl groups also have a significant place in my heart, and I have developed strong stan relationships with a few groups. My favorite is Twice, known for their catchy songs, energetic performances, and the shared success within the JYP family. The group's choreographies and stage presence are second to none, and their members bring their unique blend of talent and appeal to the table.

Nmixx

Nmixx, a group from Mixxpop, has a special place in my heart. I am particularly drawn to their debut song O.O and their overall vocal prowess. Lily, Haewon, and Sullyoon's ability to nail high notes is a unique and rare talent in the industry, making them stand out. My motto in life is Nmixx Change Up Lessgo, and I can always count on them for a fantastic time.

G-Idle

G-Idle's message of women empowerment and their ability to handle complex concepts with ease is truly inspiring. Soyeon's consistently strong performances and stage presence bring joy to my heart, and their recent concept Super Lady was an absolute triumph. Despite the controversy around Wife, I remain a strong stan of the group, appreciating their ability to evolve and flex with each release.

These favorite K-pop groups and idols have been the cornerstone of my K-pop journey, and I am looking forward to many more years of stanxing and enjoying their incredible talents.

Conclusion

Stanxing K-pop can be a passionate and sometimes overwhelming experience, but the journey is filled with joy and excitement. From Seventeen to G-Idle, each group has played a significant role in making my K-pop fandom journey an unforgettable one. My favorite idol experiences are a direct result of their incredible performances, unique styles, and the support and love they bring to their fans. Whether it's through a hit song, a fantastic dance routine, or a heartwarming performance, each member of these groups has left an indelible mark on my heart.
