When is your judgement day?
It was last week. Tuesday, I believe… I remember it because that’s the night we had to put our recycling out. Garbage was this past Tuesday because recycling goes out every week but garbage is only every other week in my subdivision. We also have special scheduled pickups for batteries, electronics, and of course extra pickups for Christmas trees in January and yard waste in May because that’s when everybody does their gardening. I don’t get people who lavish attention and time, money that could be better spent, to create these picture-perfect manicured lawns with little vignettes of garden gnomes and various woodland creatures. For instance, I only mow my lawn every other week. You’d think I could coordinate that with garbage-day, but to be perfectly honest, I live alone and don’t generate that much actual garbage, so I only put out my garbage once a month, if that, and it’s never that much—maybe a single shopping bag, some Styrofoam...
So why does this world, our society, need to come to an end? The Bible foretold the end of this world many centuries ago. Jesus called it: ‘This system of things’ and also foretold all the signs the events to look for in order to prepare ourselves. Our Creator, Jehovah God, did not create us to rule ourselves. He said, in Jeremiah 10:23, “I well know O Jehovah that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”
Indisputable Human Failings
Look around you. We are damaging our planet to a point of no return, killing precious species of beautiful animals, and destroying their habitat. We are also killing one another, dominating one another, and deceiving one another. This world does not know how to simply live in peace. Human governments can’t produce permanent peace and prosperity or equality for all. They want to, and they would love to, but they simply can’t. So, who can achieve it?
God will achieve it by means of His kingdom which is the only one to sort this world out.—— “Thy kingdom come” Matthew 6:10. In the Garden of Eden, we chose to rule ourselves independently of God, so God accepted our choice, but we are really making a real mess. Even though we were rebellious, God has helped us to achieve as a race the maximum we can achieve, but this has not proved to be enough to acquire godly wisdom. So, God is now going to rescue us from ourselves so that He can fulfill His original purpose for mankind: That those who love, respect, obey, and worship Him will live forever after the judgment to never know pain, distress, sin, or death again… but to enjoy life, to work, to study, to learn, to play, and to do whatever makes us happy.
To eat not out of hunger but out of just the joy of eating beautiful foods. To gather free materials around to make a house that will be ours with no money and no mortgage that will never fall into disrepair.
So yes, this world is going away and passing to give way to God’s new brotherhood of men and women who love peace, and this thanks to Jesus’ sacrifice for us!
The Future of Peace and Joy
1John 2:17 says, “Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever.” How will the new world feel like? Revelation 21:4 says, “And God Himself will be with them. And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
