Is Dany Resurrected in Game of Thrones? The Reality of Fan Theories
Hashtag: #GameOfThrones #ResurrectionFanTheories
The epic tale of A Song of Ice and Fire and its Game of Thrones adaptation has captivated millions of viewers, and with great stories come countless fan theories. One of the most intriguing and oft-discussed theories is whether Dany (Daenerys Targaryen) was resurrected or if it was just wishful thinking on the part of some.
Real or Fan Theory?
Did you see it happen on the show? No... it didn't. Was it just wishful thinking on the part of some? In the realm of fan theories, it's entirely possible that fan creativity can lead to some shocking (if not entirely accurate) conclusions. When the show is on air, these theories can thrive, as people discuss and either come to light or wither away.
For instance, the theory that Jon Snow is the true heir to the Iron Throne gained traction among fans. Other theories, however, can seem so far-fetched that one might question the status of being the first to come up with them. For example, the assertion that the Joker was dead simply because he would return fits into a broader pattern of expectations in the entertainment industry. A popular comic book anti-hero, such as the Dark Phoenix, might have resonated with fans but ultimately wouldn't fit George RR Martin's (GRRM) style. Martin has made it clear that he has no qualms about killing off fan-favorite characters to advance his story.
Is Anything Possible in a Work of Fiction?
In a work of fiction, anything is indeed possible. For instance, Drogon could have flown to Asshai and found a Red Priest or Priestess to bring Dany back to life. Since the show and books have established resurrection as a real thing in the world of Westeros, it is entirely within the realm of possibility. Furthermore, if events played out as such on the show, it would be a very compelling storyline that fans would eagerly anticipate.
Why Dany Could Be Resurrected
Is Dany meant to return? Yes, it is very possible that she could be resurrected. She has been represented as a character who had a difficult life, being told she was destined for greatness, and even enduring sexual abuse by her power-hungry, psychopathic brother. Her character development reflects a broken and damaged individual who desired to change the world for the better but didn't know how to achieve it. Just as Rome fell to rise again and better, every civilization needs to crumble and rebuild to become more evolved.
Despite her resilience, she could use a second chance at life to find resolution and forgiveness. The character of Dany is complex and multi-dimensional, offering numerous possibilities for plot development. Fans can imagine various scenarios, such as Drogo finding a Red Priestess who could bring her back. Martin's storytelling is open to interpretation, and the potential for unexpected plot twists is always on the horizon.
Consider the character of Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars. He was destined to bring balance to the Force, but the prophecy did not provide a direct path. Similarly, the resurrection of Dany could serve a greater purpose, such as understanding why Drogo betrayed her. Perhaps, she could come to realize that she was trying to change the world in the wrong way and decide to give up her claim to the throne in order to be with Jon.
Whether or not this happens in Martin's next installment, it is clear that the story is far from over. The author remains committed to writing the conclusion of his saga, and the potential for Dany's resurrection is only one of many possibilities. So, we are left with a simple “maybe.”
