Exploring the Unknown: A Personal Encounter with a Haunted Historical Site
Have you ever visited a historical haunted house at night? Most of my paranormal experiences have been unplanned and unprovoked, but I do have one significant encounter that stands out. I would like to share this story with you, which took place at the Valley Forge Park museum at night.
A Night Cleaning at Valley Forge Park
I was once asked to help a friend clean the museum at Valley Forge Park at night. As someone who suffers from OCD and cleanliness, I thought I would be the perfect choice for this task. However, the experience turned out to be far more than cleaning. It was a night filled with unexplained occurrences and feelings that made me question the paranormal world.
The Chilling Experience: Fingerprints on the Glass
It was a dark night, with little lighting in the museum, which housed personal effects of General George Washington and some of the soldiers who died there. As I was cleaning the glass cases, I decided to step away for a moment to explore some of the exhibits. When I turned around, I noticed the glass cases were covered with fingerprints - markings that I had just cleaned.
Without a second thought, a chill ran down my spine, and the hairs on my neck and arms stood up. All I could think about was how to get out of there as quickly as possible. The realization that what left the fingerprints might still be leaning on them was terrifying. The marks didn’t fade, and I felt a deep sense of unease. Crazy thoughts raced through my mind, like making sure I locked the door before leaving just in case someone stole General Washington’s personal effects or if the spirits could somehow come out of the exhibits.
The Unfortunate Twist: Younger Company
Believing the spirits were harmless, I decided to go back a few more times. However, a major mistake was made when I brought my 15-year-old son, who can see and communicate with spirits, along for the experience. Needless to say, this particular job was the shortest of my life. The encounters were too much for him as well, and we both felt overwhelmed and unable to continue.
A Lesson Learned: Steer Clear of Haunted Houses
While I still enjoy visiting Valley Forge Park as often as I can - a place of great historical significance and just a giant graveyard with many unmarked graves - I have since learned to avoid entering houses that I know or feel are haunted. The lack of control over what could happen in such environments is a risk I am not willing to take. I don’t want or need a spirit to stay tethered to me, taking it with me back home.
Thank you for reading this. May God bless you and protect you from anything that could harm you.
