She recollects: 'When we were 19, I walked my boyfriend naked on a leash like a dog on all fours because he lost a bet. It was absolutely hilarious. After all his sexist comments, I felt so empowered and good, walking him like that. He is a muscular and a masculine guy, and it was so satisfying to see him crawling around naked like a dog, keeping his buttocks high and up in the air! People saw us, and their reactions made it even funnier. To this day, I still tease him about that moment— it was just too priceless to forget!'

'We were low profile at the back of the place, and people just went there to get shots, instantly becoming part of the group. The next day at school, I had to bite my tongue to hold in my laughter whenever I heard parents or faculty talking about "the mysterious alcohol craze" of the previous night, ' she reminisces with a chuckle.

When Touch Becomes a Threat

Another incident occurred when she was 13 and left a department store. A woman, who identified herself as store security, announced that she was touched on the shoulder. 'My stomach and heart became one with this incident,' she recounts. 'It was a stark reminder of the vulnerability that comes with being underage.'

Getting High Without Consent

One of the most terrifying experiences was when she was forced to ride in a car with friends who were smoking marijuana without her permission. 'I was in the backseat, in a car with two other passengers, and it was before I reached legal age. I was stuck in the car with a puff puff-pass the dutchie, helium filling up with smoky clouds of fog and haze, and no one was opening any windows! ' she describes, adding, 'OMG! I don’t smoke weed, but my sinuses were filling up and it hit my developing brain cells. I was falling into a deep sleep. This was my first experience with cannabis, and it was horrible. I felt dizzy, then euphoric. I had a dream that turned out to be a premonition.' The following day, she learned that 'the idiot' who had lit the joint was later murdered by gang members, just as her dream foresaw, adding a layer of trauma and foreboding to an already frightening experience. 'I’ve never been around anyone who smokes pot after that day. The euphoria side effects were traumatic for me, and I lost a friend. The smell of pot still makes me nauseous,' she concludes.
