Capturing the Magic: My Best Photos of My Cats

What is the Best Photo You've Taken of Your Cat?

It's so hard to choose, really. Each of my three cats, Kizzie, Ziggy, and Molly, have their own unique charm, and I have so many photos of them that I can't pick just one. Kizzie is a tabby, Ziggy is a black and white cat with a distinct black face, and Molly is a black and white cat with two beauty spots on either side of her mouth.

But if I had to pick just one, it would have to be this one. It captures a moment of their playful nature and also the inside joke between them. When I came home one day, I found my cats climbing into my suitcase, clearly understanding that this signified my coming departure.

I was impressed by their intelligence and quick thinking. They had realized that the suitcase held all my items that I would take with me, and wanted to make sure they stayed with me. Here’s the photo that tells the story of their brilliance:

Another photo that stands out is the one of my cat Duncan. Interestingly, he decided to pose on the chair where the black cat throw blanket was. In this photo, Duncan is looking over the plans for our kitchen renovation. Interestingly, he did approve them, and we’re pleased with the results. I find it amusing how he’s the one with the final say despite not being a human.

My cat is named Duncan and I find it interesting that he decided to pose on the chair where the black cat throw blanket was.

He also has a penchant for sitting in the sun on our screened-in porch. It's truly a sight to behold—Duncan looking particularly handsome with the warm sunlight in his fur. It’s the perfect blend of his personality and the environment around him.

Here are a few more photos of my cats enjoying life and having fun in different ways:

Oreo Hoku

Oreo is a fan of the warmth from the clothes dryer, and Hoku was feeling particularly goofy on that day. These moments provide a glimpse into their more playful and quirky sides.

Stray Cats: Hinahina Nalu

Hinahina is a stray who chose to make our patio her home. Strays can be notoriously elusive and hyperactive, and this is one of my better attempts at capturing her on camera. She’s always a flurry of activity, making photos a bit of a challenge, but her liveliness adds a unique charm to any snapshot.

Nalu, another stray that frequents our home, is around 2-3 years old. He shows up every so often, bringing a bit of the outdoors in with him. While he’s not always the posest of the bunch, I do have a decent photo of him from one visit.

And for a final look, here is Luna:

Indoor cat photography can be a fun and rewarding experience. Each cat has their own unique personality, and capturing them in different settings brings out their individualities. If you have any tips or stories about your cat photos, feel free to share in the comments below!
