Introduction to a Skeptical View
Have you ever met a real medium or tarot card reader?
Depends on how you define real. As a child, my mother dragged me to various mediums and card readers, and even tea leaf readers. They were all real in the sense that they did what they did, but none of them could actually predict the future, contact the dead, or explain what sort of person you are. They were either self-deluded or frauds. Because, all of this stuff is nonsense.
A Surprising Encounter
However, here's a surprising twist—if you consider the role of mind over matter, one might say I am a medium and tarot card reader, lol. Yes, I have met a real one, or at least a skilled medium. One particular experience stands out, a visit to a psychic medium's home where she conducted a reading.
It was a strange yet cool experience. The house was an ordinary one, filled with cats and all sorts of items you might imagine an elderly woman to have. We all sat around a home-made spirit board, and she asked each of us to place our fingertips on an upside-down shot glass. The reading took place here, in the very essence of an everyday setting.
Unexpected Relevance
Before the reading, I had mentioned to my friend how I have spirit familiars that aren't usually perceived well by most people who can see them. Interestingly, she referenced these very familiars a few times during the reading. Finally, she ended it with some sage clearing the energy of the house.
It was a fun experience throughout, even if the predictions and insights didn't ring quite scientifically true. Perhaps it's more about the journey and the energy shared, rather than the literal interpretation of the words.
Conclusion
While some might dismiss these encounters as nonsense, others find them fascinating and enriching. The beauty of such experiences lies in their ability to open us up to new possibilities, even if they remain unexplained or scientifically unproven. The key is in embracing the mystery and the magic, if that's what brings you joy.
