Activities Enjoyed but Longed to Share

As someone who shares their life on the internet, I often reflect on the activities I love but wish I could do with someone else. From cooking to hiking, these solo moments can be more enjoyable when shared.

Cooking

Compared to others, I feel a unique connection to cooking. The process of mixing ingredients, the satisfaction of a well-executed dish, and the shared experience of a meal resonate deeply with me. However, none of my friends or family members share this passion. While I can cook alone, it's always more fulfilling to cook with someone who appreciates the nuances of flavor and technique.

Hiking and Outdoors

Cooking aside, most of my activities outside are much more relatable. For instance, hiking in the evening, tinkering with cars, or even playing video games like Twister. These are communal activities that are even more enjoyable when shared. It's not just about the physical presence; it's about connection, conversation, and camaraderie.

Concerts and Sports

My biggest regret is not having someone to share my passion for sports, such as the upcoming 2024 Olympics. It would be wonderful to watch, discuss, and perhaps even replay highlights together. Similarly, my interest in reading books would be much richer if I could share my purchases with a friend or family member. This way, we could explore different genres and titles, maximizing the return on investment.

Loneliness and Acceptance

It's important to note that loneliness doesn't mean I don't appreciate the company I have. I have a large family, a group of good friends, and a wonderful wife. While I don't mind doing things alone, there are still many activities that would benefit from a soulmate. Whether it's mountain biking, attending concerts, or simply playing basketball, the enriching experiences are often amplified when shared.

Key Reflections

What I've realized through these reflections is that shared activities build deeper connections and foster a sense of community. Even if you enjoy solitary pursuits, there's always room for a partner to make those moments even more memorable.
