A Journey Back Through Time: The Items I'd Take
Long before the advent of time travel, we humans have always been curious about what life would have been like in the past. If you were thrust back in time without any knowledge of how far, what items would you choose to bring along to ensure a smooth transition into a different era?
Given the opportunity, I would undoubtedly take all manner of things that would help me and the people I travel with thrive in a prehistoric American region. In this adventure, I wouldn't say no thanks; the idea of growing up as a native in the American region a thousand years ago would be intriguing indeed.
Essential Items to Bring Back in Time
A Collection of Seeds: From the plants that fed our ancestors to those that provided medicine, seeds would be paramount. This would not only ensure a steady food supply but also promote the growth of unique and essential plant life in the new setting.
A Nuclear-Powered Aircraft Carrier: While it might seem like an extravagant choice, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier would provide a stable base of operations. Not only could it serve as a habitat for our group of 2000 people from all nationalities, but it would also feature an advanced aquaponics system. The ability to grow food in a sustainable and efficient manner would be crucial even in an unfamiliar environment.
Helicopters and Parts: Helicopters would be invaluable for transportation, exploring, and repairs. With the carrier stocked with a decent supply of parts, we could keep the aircraft in optimal condition, ensuring that our group remains mobile and capable of addressing unforeseen issues.
A Range of Activities: A diverse group of individuals would be essential for a successful time travel mission. Along with the 2000 people from all different nationalities, we would take a shit load of farm animals and fishing gear. In addition to providing sustenance, these animals would help tending the land and sustaining the group.
To understand the past, we would require stacks of maps. Detailed maps and a good understanding of the local geography would be essential for navigation and survival. The shitload of scientists would assist us in understanding the environment, while comedians, writers, artists, doctors, and musicians would form the cultural and intellectual backbone of our group, making our days more enriching and our nights more memorable.
A couple of three Michelin star chefs would be invaluable assets. Their expertise would not only enhance the quality of our meals but would also help us to adapt to new recipes and cooking styles that might have emerged during the time period we visit. Completing the picture, a hot air balloon would provide an exciting way to explore the land and a romantic way to glance back at our base from a different perspective.
Medical and Scientific Tools
Vaccines: Bringing vaccines would be critical for ensuring the health and well-being of the group. Diseases that were unknown in the past could spread quickly, so preventing infections would be a priority.
Farm Equipment: Farming tools and techniques would be essential for anyone trying to establish a food culture in the prehistoric era. This would include plows, implements, and perhaps even brewing equipment to start a vineyard and a brewery. A still would allow us to produce alcohol, a valuable commodity that could be used for various purposes, from medicine to social lubrication.
Transportation: A ticket back for everyone would be a must-have. If something went wrong, we wouldn't want to be stuck in the past with no escape. Additionally, the $10,000,000 to buy some stocks would be smart contingency planning, just in case the time travel only involved a return to recent history.
Personal Preferences and Nostalgia
Brandy Snaps: For a personal touch, I would include brandy snaps. These delightful treats are a nostalgic and comforting reminder of my childhood and a delicious addition to the group's culinary experiences.
Union Iced Coffee: Another nostalgic and comforting item would be farmers union iced coffee. The cold and refreshing beverage would be a welcome addition to a hot day, and it would also be appreciated for its taste and quality.
Cuscus: If time travel included a pet cuscus, I would bring a dozen of them along. As a childhood memory and an exotic and unique pet, these animals would provide joy and companionship to the group.
Finally, I would be torn between leaving with the people and the world that I know. Striking a balance between the benefits of time travel and the comfort of the known is crucial. The journey into the past would be an adventure, and the items we bring would make it an unforgettable one.
